BYOD, BYOA, BYOID: acronyms for the Broadband Society

The Broadband Society’s infrastructure involves base and content. And also devices. Telecommunication infrastructure grows and feeds mobility. The proliferation of devices (smartphone, tablet, phablet) accompanies this essential duo.

At the current juncture, the worker carries its devices. In some companies or entities, the human sources department sometimes assigns a company device, but this can be cumbersome, especially for the pockets of the smoking: withstand twice weight for ten or twelve hours a day could turn conventional labor claims as "clothing expenses."
Given this evidence, most companies accept that the worker carries its own device, at work or on the beach observing a sea like photography: it is already well established Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), emerged more than five years ago and embedded in the collective mind of the company. Its origin is in the United States, like other industrial revolutions, such as telework (telecommuting at home, back in the 80s longed twentieth century). And where does the BYOD? As a strategy for talent satisfaction. Jobs film style, to sign a senior must be tempting. And for American hunters’ talents given the option to work with the team most desired was synonymous with freedom. Not only can seduce with wages or social benefits: you can also seduce with technology. And the own device. Often the company proposes an amount of money and the employee acquires what he likes.
That spirit has landed in Europe. But Europe is the mosaic: not every country is the same. And in Spain Lazarillo de Tormes and Guzmán de Alfarache extend their long shadow to the XXI century. And that shadow means that many companies promote own device, i.e., the use of personal devices in the literal sense: they are devices owned by the worker who pays.
After BYOD "adapted" to every social fact, BYOA (Bring Your Own App) appears: the user is allowed to use the applications best suited to their tastes and needs. Synchronously MDM (Mobile Device Management) mitigates this indiscriminate use of devices in the enterprise. It also appears the MAM (Mobile Application Management): Management of mobile applications.
Finally (for now), the BYOID (Bring Your Own Identity) emerges: allow employees to use digital identities or social networking media and how to login to the applications. According to the Identity Imperative for the Open Enterprise 2014 report, commissioned by CA Technologies, the BYOID becomes a popular option to simplify access. An advantage is achieved: reducing the need to create new accounts for each website. The study, based on over 3,000 surveys in the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy and the UK, concluded that 67% of users BYOID the main value is to strengthen the process of authentication. For 76%, increases the effectiveness of marketing campaigns (76%).
Therefore, the development in the use of devices is constant, and the routine calls the security barrier. On it we discussed in the Research Group on Digital Journalism and Broadband, the UAO-CEU and CECABLE, on Twitter (CECABLEresearch), Google+, LinkedIn group, LinkedIn page, the Facebook group, Instagram (CECABLE), Pinterest and in this blog. And delve into the 2XX Cable and Broadband Catalonia Congress (5-7 May 2015).
